VWSA MD participates in the CEO Sleepout

Our goal at Mossel Bay VW is not only to make a difference in the lives of our clients, but also in the community.

This time it is not about us, but rather what the MD of VWSA sacrificed for the community.

The 702 Sun International CEO Sleepout challenges business leaders to join the global movement to look beyond company profits by sleeping under the stars for one night to bring hope and a home to South Africa’s most vulnerable children.

VWSA MD Thomas Schaefer took up this challenge on a cold Joburg night (where it reached two degrees Celsius) in June by sleeping outside in a cardboard box to raise funds. In addition, VWSA employees raised R36,500 towards the event.

We are very proud of Thomas Schaefer and VWSA and wish to congratulate them on this fantastic initiative. May this news inspire us all to make a difference in the greater community.

The importance of Timing-Belt maintenance

A torn belt is always annoying, but while broken V-Belts and V-Ribbed Belts usually only end up discharging the battery, a torn timing belt can cause catastrophic damage to engines not equipped with freewheel mechanisms. Therefore, timing belt replacement intervals must be observed at all times.

The timing belt performs a key function in ensuring that the engine’s pistons and valves interact smoothly. If a timing belt breaks, it can lead to costly repairs. To prevent this, a new timing belt should always be installed at specific replacement intervals.

When a timing belt needs to be replaced, it’s always best to do so with Genuine VW Parts, as these parts are designed to ensure reliable performance while guaranteeing precise control. Genuine timing belts are made with high strength glass and synthetic fibers.

It was long held that timing chain drives were significantly better than timing belt drives. The timing chain was considered to be indestructible, while the “short lived” timing belt was thought likely to lead to expensive repairs. The truth is though, that both valve control methods have their advantages and disadvantages, and both can justify their applications. Timing belts have been continuously developed and today have almost as long a life as timing chains. They also offer the advantage that they require no maintenance and contribute to the weight optimisation of the vehicle.

Do not hesitate to ask our technicians at Mossel Bay VW about the life expectancy of your timing- belt and when it is due for a change. It might be soon.

  The Jetta facelift

The New Jetta was launched at the beginning of the year but deserves a spotlight in our newsletter. A facelift of the Jetta VI, there are still plenty of tweaks and changes that will definitely get your attention and your pulse racing.
